A Community Artist!

I see myself as an artist but I also see myself as being an artist living in my community and I do spend time whizzing around in my cute white Ford Eco sport searching for references to paint! Many a time I wished I’d remembered my mini iPad to take photos! Recently I completed a painting of a flowering almond tree ladened with white blossoms and I did use a photo on my iPad of a local tree found in someone’s front garden!  I remember clambering out onto a busy road to quickly snap the tree!
What I tried to capture was the delicacy and yet abundance of the blossoms!
I love the dark branches swooning into the blue sky clutching the soft white petals with their sweet fragrance!
The blossoms bursts open in the cold of the last weeks of Winter signalling the emerging warmer weather of Spring ! They don’t last long as they fall away to new bright green leaves so capturing their elegance and delicacy is about timing!
In keeping with original theme of my heritage, painting blossoms trees reminds me of my Grandparents and in particular their wedding anniversary which was August 4! I would cut almond blossoms and give them to my Grandmother on this day as a child and adolescent!
